Ink stains, paint splatters, doodled patterns, the hunt for the perfect light – these are the oxygen of your creative business.

You started out because you wanted to take your creative gifts and use them to build a business and a life that make a difference in the world.

But somewhere along the line, figuring out how to stand out in a noisy marketplace got overwhelming.

Now you’re feeling overworked, undervalued, and underpaid, and you’re thinking, “There’s got to be a better way.”

A way to get your customers’ attention and to spark a connection that has them convinced you go together like strawberries and bubbly… without first building a 572-point marketing plan.

A way that gives you the freedom to turn your focus back to the actual creating that got you here in the first place.

Deep breath, friend. I’ve got you.

If you want to build a brand that shines with less fuss and more heart, you are in just the right place.

Hey there! I’m Kristen.

I’m a brand and communication strategist for creatives, which is a fancy way of saying that I teach and coach creative entrepreneurs to stand out, be themselves, and turn their creative genius into a meaningful brand and business.

I’ve spent over a decade working with political and business leaders in executive communications, first as a political aide in Canada’s capital city, then as the senior marketing and communications director for a national trade association.

In parliament, board rooms, campaign offices, and industry events, I’ve seen firsthand the power of a clear message to set you apart and make a difference in the world.

But while the C-suite is exciting, the creative life has always had my heart.

I grew up in a family of artists – writers, painters, architects, fashion designers, teachers. My creative outlet of choice was story: Narnia and the Little House in the Big Woods, Middle Earth and Hogwarts, Elizabeth Bennet and Hercule Poirot. For as long as I can remember, words have been the ticket to new worlds and endless opportunity.

And so I started Cursor & Ink – to take the skills and experience I’ve learned communicating for political and business leaders and help creative entrepreneurs cut through the clutter and tell their story, their way.

Whether it’s coaching you on your content planning, figuring out how to attract and communicate with your ideal client, setting priorities and build a communications plan that works for you, or problem-solving your way around a specific road block that’s holding you back, I’m here to help you find a clear, simple approach to growing your own unique brand.

So come on into my studio, kick off your shoes, and let me pour you a drink. I’m so glad you’re here!
